Reductil (sibutramine) is supposed to be used in combination with a reduced calorie diet to help people lose weight effectively. Meridia can cause drowsiness and affect your judgment – although the side effects mentioned do not occur in most patients. Before you get engaged into any activities that require you to be alert and concentrated make sure you know exactly how this drug affects your judgment. Make sure you tell your health care provider if you have or used to have any medical conditions that may prevent you from enjoying the effects of Reductil, such as kidney, liver, or thyroid disease, migraine headaches, cancer, osteoporosis, any eating disorder, Parkinson's disease, congestive heart failure, bleeding problems, gallstones, irregular heart beat, high blood pressure, glaucoma, or a history of stroke or heart attack. To avoid interactions tell your health care provider about any drugs you are using at the moment, especially any of the following ones: lithium, antidepressants, migraine headache medicines, narcotic pain medications, ergot medicines, or tryptophan. Mild skin rash, dizziness, hunger, upset stomach, constipation, dry mouth, loss of appetite, runny or stuffy nose, and some other ones are possible mild side effects.
